Welcome and Registration Event for In-boundary and Feeder School Families

Eastern Senior High School will be having a welcome event for 8th grade students and families who live in boundary or who attend one of our feeder middle schools (Eliot Hine, Jefferson, and Stuart Hobson). These students are eligible to enroll at Eastern provided they meet registration deadlines and attend our summer orientation.

The welcome event for in-boundary and feeder school students and families will take place on Thursday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Eastern Senior High School. We are eager to answer any questions that families may have in advance of our priority deadline of June 1 for the submission of all registration and enrollment forms.

At our welcome event, families will have an opportunity to turn in enrollment forms if they are completed, sign up for specific academic programs and activities, receive information about our summer orientation, get fitted for school uniforms, meet future classmates, and tour the campus if they haven’t already done so. In addition, our marching band will join us for a brief performance.

If possible, students should bring copies of their most recent report cards to this event.

Admission to Eastern

Eastern Senior High School is not an application school. We will provide a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum to all who attend. Current eighth grade students living within Eastern’s boundary or attending one of its feeder middle schools are automatically guaranteed a seat in the freshman class and must only complete annual DCPS enrollment and residency forms in April.

We strongly encourage all students to complete these documents by June 1, 2011. All other students and families who would like to join the Eastern community must participate in the DC Public Schools Out-of-Boundary Lottery between January 28, 2011 and February 28, 2011.

Principal Selected For Eastern High School’s Class of 2015

On September 30, 2010, former DC Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee announced  the appointment of Rachel Skerritt as principal of Eastern Senior High School in Northeast Washington, DC beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.

The appointment was made after an extensive search and a significant engagement process that involved all parts of the Eastern community, from alumni, to the parents of current and potential students, to interested members of the broader community. Read more »
