Grade configuration changes, new schools, and schools moving

Important changes for next school year (as of 1/28/13)

A number of DC Public Schools will undergo important changes next year including grade configurations and feeder pattern changes.

Grade configuration changes

The following schools will be gaining or losing grades for the 2013-2014 school year. 

School Location for SY13-14 Grade configuration for SY13-14
Capitol Hill Montessori 215 G Street PS-6th grade (gaining a 6th grade)
Cardozo Education Campus 1200 Clifton Street NW 6th-12th grade (gaining 6-8th grade)
Eastern High School 1700 East Capitol Street NE 9th and 10th graders, and first time 11th graders (gaining 11th)
Langley Elementary School 101 T Street NE PS-5th grade (losing 6th, 7th, and 8th grades)
McKinley Technology Education Campus 151 T Street NE 6th- 8th grade (gaining all)
School-Within-A-School 920 F Street NE PS – 2nd (gaining PS and 2nd grade)

 

Feeder Pattern Changes

The following schools will be changing feeder pattern for the 2013-2014 school year.

*Please note:

  • 8th graders attending Columbia Heights Education Campus (CHEC) are not guaranteed a seat in 9th grade at CHEC. CHEC (9-12th) is a citywide, specialized high school. Students interested in attending CHEC for 9-12 grade must go through the schools’ admission process.
  • 8th graders attending McKinley Technology Education Campus are not guaranteed a seat in 9th grade at McKinley Technology High School. McKinley Technology High School is a citywide, specialized high school. Students interested in attending McKinley Technology High School for 9-12 grade must go through the schools’ admission process.
  • 8th graders attending School Without Walls@ Francis-Stevens are not guaranteed a seat in 9th grade at School Without Walls High School. School Without Walls High School is a citywide, specialized high school. Students interested in attending School Without Walls High School for 9-12 grade must go through the schools’ admission process.

New schools opening

McKinley Technology Education Campus will be opening (151 T Street NE) in SY13-14, serving 6-8th graders.

Closings

On January 17, 2013, DCPS announced the final school Consolidation And Reorganization Plan, which reflects input and ideas gathered over the past two months of conversations, community meetings and discussions with DC residents.

The following schools will be consolidated at the end of the 2012-2013 school year:
