How do I enroll my child?
Once you have been offered a seat in a school, you must formally accept it through the enrollment process. You must download and complete all enrollment forms. Enrollment forms for School Year 2012-2013 will be available online April 2, 2012, or at your local DCPS school. Health forms are part of the enrollment application.
If your child received a seat through the lottery process and you would like to accept the seat, you must complete and return the Letter of Intent to the school by April 2, 2012. The Letter of Intent will be mailed home by March 9, 2012, with your child’s lottery results. It is also available online. If this form is not returned, your child’s seat will be forfeited and offered to a child on the wait list. The purpose of the Letter of Intent is to allow schools to prepare for the fall to know how many families intend to enroll.
Once the Letter of Intent has been returned, families must also return the completed enrollment forms to the school by May 2, 2012. Families must show proof of DC residency at this time. If the packet is not returned, the school is permitted to offer the seat to a child on the wait list.
