Food Services - Alice Deal Middle School

The Office of Food and Nutrition Services is responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality, nutritious and cost-effective food service to all children enrolled in DCPS. 

The food service program promotes knowledge of nutritional needs to transform the dietary habits and regimen of DCPS students, and intervenes to relieve and reduce hunger among participants in its programs.

Currently, DCPS utilizes a food service management company to operate its food services: Chartwells-Thompson School Dining Services.

2010 Free Summer Meals Program 

From June 28 to August 6, 2010, children 18 years of age and younger can receive free breakfast and free lunch at participating DC Public Schools and recreation centers throughout the District. All D.C. residents (not just DCPS students) who meet the age requirement qualify to receive free summer meals.

Regular School Year Residency and Enrollment Information

As part of the residency verification and enrollment process, families need to complete and submit the Family Application for School Lunch and Breakfast. This application helps DCPS receive federal reimbursements to provide nutritious meals. This will enable DCPS to provide meals to all children at selected schools at no charge. 

To apply for free or reduced meals, submit the Family Free or Reduced Meals application electronically or download the application and return it to your youngest child’s school.
