Online learning is technology-enhanced learning.  It may involve curriculum delivered solely through computers/software or a blended learning situation that combines face-to-face instruction with technology components.

The goal of online learning is to provide students with quality educational experiences.  It may be used for the following:

  • Credit recovery
  • Enrichment
  • Initial course credit
  • Remediation of skills
  • Additional course offerings
  • College readiness skills
  • 21st Century Skills for work, school and life, including communication and collaboration.

Currently, DCPS uses Apex Learning as its main content provider of online courses.  The Online College and Career Prep program available to high school students is the largest participant in Apex courses.
