Professional Experience
A native Washingtonian, Ms. Adderley spent her early years in segregated schools until 1954, when Brown vs. Board of Education, along with the Civil Rights Movement, integrated public education. She then attended Taft Junior High and graduated from McKinley High School.

After 16 years teaching special education and general education, Ms. Adderley moved from the classroom to work as an instructional support teacher and then a facilitator in the Office of Teaching and Learning. She was later appointed Instructional Leader of three schools.

The highlight of Ms. Adderley’s career was being asked by then-Senator Barack Obama to come to Washington and speak to members of Congress about how success can be attained in the most dire of circumstances.

Education
Ms. Adderley earned a bachelor’s degree from Cheyney University in Philadelphia and two master’s degrees, one in special education, curriculum and administration and the other in supervision and reading, from Arcadia University.
