“Early on, I knew that I wanted and needed to spend my life serving others. I wanted to be sure that my life mattered--that I did my part. My passion for working toward positive social change and my ability to connect with and inspire kids led me to the classroom. I tap into their curiosity about what's around them and try to do my part in helping them become grown-ups who will find their own passions and fight against those things that they think are unjust.”
“I take a lot of time to build a classroom identity. I do want to instill a whole lot of fun but not at the expense of rigor. They’re children, so if it’s not fun, they’re less apt to be involved. And the same with me – if it’s fun, it’s a better place to be.”
“I believe that all children who enter my classroom are smart, capable, interesting and creative. I want them to be exactly who they are, and to celebrate and love whatever that may be. I believe that they can do and become anything that they want, and that it's my job to guide and help them along the way.”
She makes learning fun. She does a lot of activities with us.”
Josephina “Josie” Green, Third grader, Horace Mann Elementary School
“She’s really funny. She teaches us a lot so we learn really good, but she’s really fun in school.”
Dennis Kongoli, third grader, Horace Mann Elementary School
