Dear Parents and Guardians of DCPS Students:

We want to invite you to enroll your child in the afterschool programs offered by the DC Public Schools (DCPS).

In recent days, there has been much discussion and confusion around the issue of legal status and whether it impacts your ability to enroll in afterschool programs.  We sincerely apologize for any undue burden or concern that this may have caused, and we encourage all families to register for afterschool programs.  You will not be asked or required to demonstrate legal status as a condition of enrolling your child in our afterschool program or as a condition of your child attending the program.

All families are encouraged to register for afterschool programs.  Factors such as the legal status and/or income of you, your family, and/or your child will not prevent your child from enrolling in or attending afterschool programming.

Enrollment for afterschool programs for students in Pre-School through Grade 8 will take place from Monday, August 20 through Friday, August 24, 2012. Staff will be present at your child’s school for afterschool enrollment during the following hours:

  • Monday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 21, Thursday, August 23, and Friday, August 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

All parents/guardians who wish to enroll children in afterschool programs must establish their relationship to the child and DC residency as they do to enroll in DCPS prior to the child starting afterschool programming.

Parents/guardians of students at OSTP-managed afterschool programs may be expected to make a monthly co-payment for the afterschool program, depending on family size and income.

We thank you for engaging your child in valuable learning time through afterschool programs.
