Planimetric Mapping Standards

The DC GIS program collects planimetric mapping layers using aerial photography and photogrammetric principles meeting the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) standards.  When creating planimetric datasets, OCTO GIS ensures they meet or exceed ASPRS large scale and 1:1000 scale mapping.

Service Need

Planimetric mapping layers provide District agencies with base data layers for a variety of mapping, analysis, planning, and development activities. They are an essential dataset for capturing the District's changing landscape.
