Summer youth interns at OCTO's GIS program visit GeoEye in Virginia, a leading producer of satellite and aerial geospatial information.
On August 14, summer youth interns at the Office of the Chief Technology Officer's GIS program toured GeoEye in Loudoun County, Virginia as their last educational field trip of the summer. GeoEye is a leading producer of satellite and aerial geospatial information, as well as the operator for Earth Imaging satellites.
The interns were greeted with a presentation by Brian O'Toole, GeoEye's Chief Technology Officer, and continued the day visiting the satellite operations center where they learned how images are captured as they orbit the Earth.
Visit the GeoEye website for more information on the company, and visit Leesburg Today for more information on the DC GIS Summer Youth intern visit.
