I am sure today is exhausting for all of you, but please know our side street was plowed within 12 hours of a snowfall for the first time since we moved here 13 years ago. Kudos to the city. --DC Resident

Dear Mayor Vincent Gray,

I thank you for bringing a common sense approach to governing the District of Columbia. District Government was closed on January 27, 2011 and that was the best decision that could have been made due to the inclement weather. Many people I know have praised you for making the right decision in a timely manner. Mayor Gray you have gotten your administration off to a very good start and I hope the momentum continues throughout your tenure as Mayor. As a DC Government employee it is good to know we have a leader that thinks things through. I wish you continued success as Mayor and for bringing dignity back to the District. --Ephraim Mosley

Clearing DC Streets

I commend the city for the superb job city workers did clearing the streets following our first accumulative snow of the season. A distinct improvement over last year...Please let the Mayor’s office know the city workers did an excellent job and should be commended for keeping the citizen’s of the District safe. --Regards, Your Neighbor

From what I could see during Mt. Pleasant to McPherson Sq. trip, downtown roads are clear. Sidewalks have been cleared. Traffic is light. --From Twitter

Yesterday afternoon (after my street was plowed), I spent a couple of hours shoveling out my car (into the tree box, not the street) so that I could get my car out quickly this morning to make an 8:30 meeting. Apparently, your road crews had other ideas They re-plowed the street last night just to make sure that every bit of snow, slush, and now ice was jammed up against my car this morning. The street was well-plowed and passable the first time around, and you aren't doing residents any favors by re-plowing in the evenings. I think they overdid it a bit this time. I have missed my meeting, obviously. Way to go, folks. --DC Resident

Thank you so much Mayor Gray. I don’t need to send pictures just words of thanks to a caring and real Mayor. We chose the right man to represent the city, it’s not all about just staying home, it about how hard we work when we sit in our DC Government Offices. Our streets were terrible but they worked hard to clear them and we are back at work on Friday without any problems.

Thank you also for the 2 hour delay last week during the ice storm, that 2 hour made a huge difference.

Thank you for yesterday! The District Government Workers and Schools are always the last to be CLOSED. Thank you for your timely decision that you made in regards to the DC Government and the Schools for the snow emergency on yesterday. --Mr. Mason

Good morning Mayor Gray, I am a District of Columbia employee and would like to take this time to thank you for your prompt attention to details and consideration for the City shutting down. I would also ask that you take a look at our Department of Human Services and it’s affect on the District’ customers. Are we serving those who are really in need? The stress that our job is causing the employees of DHS ? YOU WERE ONCE A FORMER ADMINISTRATOR with this agency. We need help and it can be done without the use of money. --Terrance Mason
