LOGISTICS: Due to active construction, the site is only accessible via Gate 4 – at the intersection of Ohio Drive and West Basin Drive, SW. Flat, closed-toe shoes are encouraged. A small number of vehicles can be accommodated on West Basin Drive
south of Gate 4. Directions to press conference: westbound on Independence Avenue, SW toward the Lincoln Memorial; left on Ohio Drive, SW; left on West Basin Drive. The Weekly City Hall Press Briefing will not take place.
BACKGROUND: The District of Columbia is partnering with the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. as the city prepares to host hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend the dedication of the
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on August 28 and dedication week events leading up to the historic day. Special activities are planned specifically for DC residents.
