(WASHINGTON, DC) — Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced today that he has selected Melissa Hook as Director of the Justice Grants Administration and Jennifer Greene as Director of the Office of Unified Communications.
Melissa Hook has served as the Director of the DC Office of Victim Services since 2006 and has served as Interim Director of Justice Grants Administration since February 2011. Ms. Hook is a nationally recognized leader in government and non-profit administration and program development, public policy development, professional ethics and collaborative initiatives that promote victims’ rights and services. From 2005 to 2008 she served on the U.S. Attorney General’s National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women. In addition, Ms. Hook currently serves on the board of the National Association of Victim Assistance Administrators. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College and lives in Ward 6.
Jennifer Greene is Commander of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth Investigations Division. She started as a uniformed patrol officer assigned to the First District Substation in 1982. She rose through the ranks, achieving the rank of Sergeant in a 1989, Lieutenant in 1993, Captain in January 1999 and Inspector in March 1999. In 2000 she was promoted to Commander and has served as the Commander of the Fifth District, Human Resources Management Division, and a Liaison to the Office of Unified Communications. Commander Greene has assisted in a variety of operational assignments, such as Officer to the Special Operations Division, the Communications Division and Office of Professional Standards. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.; of the Senior Management Institute of Police (SMIP); and the George Washington University Center for Excellence in Municipal Management. She is a resident of Ward 7.
