(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced today that he had selected Lisa Mallory as the permanent director of the Department of Employment Services (DOES). Mallory has been serving as the department’s interim director and is the agency’s Deputy Director for Operations.
“Ms. Mallory knows the Department of Employment Services well and has already proven her ability to provide the kind of strong leadership we need,” said Mayor Gray. “She will be a key addition to my Cabinet as we continue to focus efforts on job creation and human capacity building.”
Prior to her current position, Ms. Mallory served as DOES Chief Operating Officer. She also has extensive experience in both the government and private sectors, having served as Senior Vice President with the global consulting firm ICF International, Senior Vice President for Policy and Consulting with Fannie Mae and Senior Partner with the Public Strategy Group, Inc.
Ms. Mallory received a BA in business and technology management from the University of Maryland at College Park and an MBA in international business and marketing from The George Washington University. She expects to complete studies next year toward a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University.
