November 2 Briefing at DOES Will Highlight WMATA’s Participation in One City ● One Hire Program and Provide Update on Overall Initiative
WHAT/WHO: Mayor Vincent C. Gray and officials from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) will hold the Mayor’s Biweekly City Hall Press Briefing at DOES, highlighting a DOES/WMATA initiative to hire 26 new Metrobus drivers.

BACKGROUND: As Mayor Gray’s One City ● One Hire initiative moves forward, public, private and non-profit sector organizations are signing on to help put District residents back to work. WMATA is among those organizations, and is screening candidates for Metrobus driver positions tomorrow at DOES headquarters. Mayor Gray and DOES officials will provide an update on the program and WMATA’s participation.
