Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Other Officials Host October 25th Employment Fair to Help Connect Veterans with Jobs
Event at THEARC Will Bring Employers, Qualified Veterans Together
WHO/WHAT: Mayor Vincent C. Gray and officials from the DC Department of Employment Services, the DC Office of Veterans Affairs, the White House, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the American Legion will open an employment fair designed specifically for veterans.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 25, 2011
8:40 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
(Mayor Gray and other speakers will open the event at 8:40 a.m. with a brief welcome pre-program; doors open to job seekers at 9:00 a.m.)

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the event is to bring government and private-sector employers together with veterans, who are some of the most highly qualified and highly skilled individuals in the labor pool but who sometimes have difficulty finding jobs once returning from deployment and retiring from the military. Veterans throughout the Washington metropolitan area have been invited to participate. Proper attire and military I.D. card or proof of service are required for job-seekers.
