For the Community

The District benefits culturally and economically from film and television production activity. Filmmakers hire local residents as cast and crew and spend money on local hotels, restaurants, and a variety of business that service the industry. The Office of Motion Picture and Television Development works in coordination with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), and other city and federal agencies to facilitate permits, ensure safety, and keep the community informed of production activity.
