The Mystics Youth Summer League (MYSL), now entering into its fourth year, was adopted to provide school-aged girls, residing in the Metropolitan area, the opportunity to play organized basketball throughout the summer months. The creation of the MYSL filled a void for the region’s young females that previously existed due to the lack of the necessary financial means and/or talent to participate with an AAU team.
The MYSL, open to all girls residing in D.C. between the ages of 10-18, traditionally operates during the summer months of June through August. The program’s commencement is highlighted with a Tipoff Event held at Turkey Thicket in mid-May and culminates with a Championship Game for each age division in August. The Championship teams and the All-Star teams for each age division are then honored during the MYSL Recognition Day which is held at Verizon Center in conjunction with a Washington Mystics home game. Members of the Mystics coaching staff will also conduct a Coach’s Clinic for all DPR coaches during the MYSL season.
