Projects and Planning
The planning process for this project began 8 years ago with significant input from residents, businesses, elected officials and neighborhood organizations.
The project involves the rehabilitation of the K Street Bridge, Massachusetts Avenue Bridge, H Street Bridge—which are all over I-395—and the Electrical-Mechanical Upgrades of the Air-Rights Tunnel.
This project entails the design of reconstructing the alley bounded by 31st, 32nd, R and Q streets in northwest, DC to restore the mobility and surface integrity of the alley.
The Columbus Plaza Rehabilitation Project will take 18 months to complete and includes pedestrian safety, vehicular access and security improvements.
The replacement of a partially collapsed culvert with a new wider culvert.
DDOT, IPMA is conducting safety evaluation along New Jersey Avenue, NW between H and N Streets, NW to determine improvements necessary to address existing safety and traffic operational deficiencies within the corridor.
The Sherman Avenue Streetscape Project will bring major enhancements to Sherman Avenue, NE between Park Road and Florida Avenue in northwest.
A segment of Historic U Street from 9th Street NW to 14th Street NW is being reconstructed to widen and landscape the sidewalk areas, repair the roadway and perform upgrades to the streetlights, traffic signals and storm drains.
