This alley reconstruction project consists of an alley bounded by 31st, 32nd, R and Q streets NW located in the Georgetown area of northwest Washington, DC. It is surrounded by residential property on the north, east, and west side, and bounded by a historic property on the south side.
It is an existing unimproved alley that is in poor condition. There have been reported issues with drainage in the area. The alley has two segments; one in the north-south direction approximately measuring 300’ x 20’, the other is a pedestrian alley that is approximately measuring 150’ x 10’.
The project is currently under design to restore the alley to a safe and aesthetically pleasing area. The work that will be conducted during the design period of this project will include: surveying, geotechnical investigations, complete and accurate design plans that will have all the required specifications and estimate for DDOT to use when they begin the construction work for this alley. The designers are to bring innovative ideas for the design on the alley. The design is to be completed by Fall 2013.
