(Washington, DC) – As part of the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project motorists will encounter single lane conditions on eastbound (outbound) and westbound (inbound) New York Avenue, NE between Florida Avenue and Penn Street from 6 am to 6 pm on or about Saturday, December 1 to facilitate a shifting of traffic to the newly reconstructed portion of the bridge.
Following the shift, the new traffic pattern on New York Avenue from Florida Avenue to Penn Street will still include two travel lanes in each direction and will remain in place for an estimated nine-month period. As part of this new traffic pattern westbound (inbound) traffic will continue straight in two travel lanes across the bridge and eastbound (outbound) traffic at Florida Avenue will be shifted to the left across the bridge and will be shifted back to the right prior to Penn Street.
DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
