South Capitol Street Corridor Project Industry Day Scheduled for January 14

WASHINGTON, DC – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will hold an Industry Day from 9 am to noon on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church in advance of issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a design-build contract in the first quarter of 2013 for the first two segments of the South Capitol Street Corridor Project.

The design-build contract will complete Project Segment I, which consists of replacing the existing Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and its approaches with a new bridge and approaches and Segment II, which consists of constructing a new Suitland Parkway/I-295 Interchange.

In addition to a design-build, the contract for Segment I and II may allow that the contractor provide gap financing based on the final scope of work to be included in a Request for Proposals (RFP). The new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge may be a new moveable bridge, or potentially, a fixed span replacement.

The Industry Day venue of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church is located at 2616 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE and has on-site parking but also is accessible via the Metro Green Line Anacostia Station. In addition, table space is available for up to 10 prime contractors for networking/teaming discussions with potential Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) subcontractors. Industry Day will begin at 9 am with attendee sign-in, have a formal presentation at 10 a.m. and include a question and answer session before concluding at noon.

While attendance at Industry Day is not a prerequisite for participating in the procurement process, interested firms and parties are strongly encouraged to attend. Time and space are being provided before and after the formal presentation to give attendees an opportunity to meet potential teaming partners, DBE firms, engineering firms, subcontractors, and also further review project exhibits.

A Pre-Submission Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) Workshop is to be held shortly after the release of the RFQ document to provide additional information and answer questions.
