Detour and Single Lane Condition Planned for New York Avenue

On Monday, January 28 westbound New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue and will be closed from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and from 7:30 pm to 4 am the following day.

WASHINGTON, DC — On Monday, January 28 westbound New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue and will be closed from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and from 7:30 pm to 4 am the following day. During both time periods, eastbound New York Avenue between Florida Avenue and Penn Street will be reduce to a single lane. These lane closures will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Detour for Westbound New York Avenue

Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue.   

Traffic control personnel will be present to guide motorist through the detour

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
