The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has completed Phase I of the roadway construction that is currently underway on Benning Road, NE between 39th and 42nd Streets.

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has completed Phase I of the roadway construction that is currently underway on Benning Road, NE between 39th and 42nd Streets. In preparation for Phase 2 traffic along this stretch will be shifted to the north side of Benning Road starting at 9 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, weather permitting.
Benning Road will be kept open to two way traffic. Temporary signs and traffic control measures will be in place to alert and guide the traveling public through this area. During the first three weeks of this change traffic flaggers will also be onsite to guide motorists through the work zone.
Phase 2 will continue through the end of November 2011. During this phase construction activities will be executed between 7 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Saturday.
Additional Impact(s)
- The parking lot for the Dorothy I. Height/Benning Neighborhood Library, located at 3935 Benning Road, NE, will be closed beginning next week to accommodate Phase II of the Benning Road construction project. The lot will remain closed until Phase II ends in November.
DDOT reminds motorists to slow down and use caution when traveling through any work zone, for their own safety and the safety of the construction crews.
