Temporary Night Work Scheduled for I-395 Air Rights Tunnel Rehabilitation

The final phase of the I-395 Air Rights Tunnel Rehabilitation construction project is underway.  DDOT has scheduled the removal of the temporary PCC barriers from the Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) lanes of the Air Rights Tunnel (commonly known as the 3rd Street Tunnel).

WASHINGTON, DC — The final phase of the I-395 Air Rights Tunnel Rehabilitation construction project is underway. DDOT has scheduled the removal of the temporary PCC barriers from the Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) lanes of the Air Rights Tunnel (commonly known as the 3rd Street Tunnel).

Traffic switches will occur in both directions; one lane will remain open at all times.

  • NB Night Work: Sunday, January 6 from 9 pm until 5 am, Monday, January 7

  • SB Night Work: Monday, January 7 from 9 pm until 5 am, Tuesday, January 8

DDOT encourages all motorists traveling through this work zone to stay alert and pay attention to all safety and directional signage.
