Temporary Closure of Broad Branch and Kalmia Roads, NW

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close sections of both Broad Branch Road and Kalmia Road, NW at approximately 3 pm today as a safety precaution. Heavy rains are expected this evening and high water could cause further structural damage to culverts on both roads and could potentially compromise the temporary bridge that currently carries Broad Branch Road over Soapstone Creek.

Kalmia Road will be closed between East Beach Drive and West Beach Drive.

Broad Branch Road will be closed from Brandywine Street to Ridge Road, NW.

When the storm passes and conditions improve, DDOT will inspect the culverts and reopen the roadways as soon as it is safe to do so.
