(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced plans to temporary close part of 3rd Street, NE on May 14, 2012, for construction related to the South Dakota Avenue and Riggs Road Project.
DDOT will close southbound 3rd Street, NE, between 2nd Street and Riggs Road, from May 14 through 16. The northbound lane on 3rd Street will remain open during this closure.
This temporary closure will allow DDOT to complete a significant portion of work on 3rd Street and reopen all lanes to traffic.
Detour Available
To accommodate this temporary closure, traffic will be detoured to Chillum Place, NE to access Riggs Road. Signs will be in place to guide travelers in the corridor. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to stay alert and use caution when traveling in the work zone.
