(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced motorists, in northeast Washington, will encounter a single lane condition on eastbound New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue and a detour on westbound New York Avenue at Penn Street between 4 am and 7 pm on Saturday, March 2. These lane closures will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
Detour for Westbound New York Avenue
Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE to avoid delays through this area.
Temporary signs and traffic control measures will be in place to alert and guide the traveling public through this area.
DDOT encourages all motorists to stay alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
