(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is alerting the public today that due to a sink hole between Independence Ave SE and East Capitol Street SE on Second Street SE the roadway is closed for the next 48 hours. The repairs should be completed by Wednesday, August 17, 2011 allowing the road to be re-opened by the morning rush hour.

All traffic is being diverted to parallel streets to avoid this area. Warning Signs that indicate the road is closed are in place guiding the driving public around this closure.
