(Washington, DC) – The District of Department of Transportation (DDOT) will institute right lane closures of northbound Suitland Parkway and westbound Firth Sterling Avenue near the intersection of the two roads from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 26 to gather soil samples for the preliminary design of the South Capitol Street Corridor Project.

More specifically, the lane closures will be as follows:

  • the right turn only lane of northbound Suitland Parkway approaching Firth Sterling Avenue, and
  • the right lane of westbound Firth Sterling from Howard Road to Suitland Parkway.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, this work would be rescheduled for the same hours on Friday, July 27.

Throughout the work, advance signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorist to the closures.

To keep everyone safe, motorists should stay alert and obey the posted speed limits when traveling through this area.
