REMINDER: Overnight Closures Planned for New York Avenue Between Penn Street and Florida Avenue

(Washington, DC) – New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue in northeast Washington is scheduled to be closed overnight on Wednesday, June 13, Wednesday, June 20 and Friday, June 29.  These activities will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project .

The closures will start at 10:00 p.m. and continue through 5:00 a.m. the following day.  The overnight closure on Friday, June 29 will continue through 11:00 a.m. the following day

Detours

Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue and eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue to 6th Street and Penn Street and then back to New York Avenue.    

Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
