(Washington, DC) – Motorists are reminded that New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue is scheduled to be closed overnight starting at 10:00 p.m. today through 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. These activities will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project
.
This closure will reoccur again starting at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25 through 5:00 am the following day and at 10:00 pm on Friday, June 29 through 11:00 am the following day.
Detours
Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue. Eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue to 6th Street and Penn Street and then back to New York Avenue.
Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.
DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
