(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced Good Hope Road, SE, between Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE and Anacostia Drive, SE, will be closed overnight on Monday, July 23 starting at 7 pm through 5:30 am the following morning. The closure will allow DDOT to complete steel girder erection for a new bridge over Good Hope Road, SE.
Access will be maintained to local traffic only.
During the closure, signed detours will be posted.
Detour
- Motorists seeking access to Anacostia Drive, SE from areas east of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, will be detoured onto Minnesota Avenue, SE to Nicholson Street, SE.
- Motorists desiring to access Good Hope Road, SE from areas along Anacostia Drive, SE, will be directed to Nicholson Street, SE, then onto 22nd Street, SE to access Good Hope Road, SE via Minnesota Avenue, SE.
Traffic control signage will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
