(Washington, DC) Starting Monday, March 7 through Thursday, March 10, during overnight hours, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) plans to fully close or periodically stop traffic in one direction at time on Interstate 295/DC 295 (Anacostia Freeway) between Pennsylvania Avenue and the 11th Street Bridge to set new bridge girders over the highway.
This activity will occur overnight between 10 pm and 5 am the next morning, with a single lane closure beginning at 8 pm. Traffic stoppages may last up to 40 minutes at a time.
In the event either direction of the highway is closed, signed detours will be posted. To avoid delay during stoppages, motorists are urged to choose alternate routes.
