DDOT to Close Intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE for Repaving

The intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE is scheduled to close overnight November 5, 6, 7 and 8 for milling and paving. The work will begin at 8 pm each night and wrap up by 5 am the following morning.

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to close the intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE overnight November 5, 6, 7 and 8 for milling and paving. The work will begin at 8 pm each night and wrap up by 5 am the following morning. Detours will be in place to guide traffic in and out of Anacostia.

Detours:

Motorists traveling northbound on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue will be detoured onto W Street, SE, and then to 13th Street, SE to access Good Hope Road east of the intersection closure.  Motorists traveling westbound on Good Hope Road, SE will be detoured via 14th Street, SE, to U Street, SE to access Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue south of the intersection closure.

Motorists traveling southbound on 11th Street, SE to Anacostia will be detoured onto the recently opened ramp to southbound I-295, then to Howard Road, SE, to access Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.

Motorists seeking access to Anacostia from northbound I-295 will be detoured to Firth Sterling Avenue, SE (Exit 3A), onto Howard Road, SE to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.

Electronic message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detours.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.

This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast/Southwest Freeway and I-295/DC 295.
