WASHINGTON, DC – Starting Monday, December 3, 2012, weather permitting, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin work in Washington Circle as part of the New Hampshire Avenue Streetscape Project
.
The construction activities for this segment of the project will include upgrading utilities, resurfacing the roadway, the installation of new wheelchair ramps, new landscaping throughout Washington Circle and upgrading all streetlights, traffic signals and storm drains.
Construction / Maintenance of Traffic
Construction work is scheduled to be performed between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. Monday through Friday and may occasionally take place on Saturdays. All construction activities are contingent upon weather conditions.
The project will start on Pennsylvania Avenue and progress west to New Hampshire Avenue. The roadway will be resurfaced one half at a time.
At a minimum two traffic lanes will be kept open at all times and sidewalks will be kept open.
Motorists and cyclists are advised to stay alert as they travel through or near this work zone area and to plan ahead to minimize delays while traveling through this corridor.
