The northbound lanes on the Anacostia Freeway (I-295/DC 295) will close between Howard Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE on Friday May 11, 2012.
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced it will close the northbound lanes on the Anacostia Freeway (I-295/DC 295) between Howard Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE on Friday May 11, 2012.
As a result of this closure motorists will encounter a single lane closure on northbound I-295/DC 295 beginning at 8:00 pm, followed by a closure of all northbound lanes at 10 pm. All lanes will be reopened by 10 am on Sunday May 13, 2012. The road closure will allow DDOT to shift northbound DC 295 traffic onto its final alignment.
Traffic will be redirected as they approach A detour Route will be posted on the roadway to assist all motorists in bypassing this work zone and aid them in retuning smoothly back onto northbound DC 295.
Northbound DC 295 traffic will be detoured onto the inbound 11th Street bridge, to westbound M Street, SE to access the eastbound Southeast/Southwest Freeway using the 9th Street, SE entrance ramp. From eastbound Southeast/Southwest Freeway, motorists will access northbound DC 295(Anacostia Freeway) via eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
Electronic message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled closure.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
