(Washington, DC) - The Department of Transportation (DDOT) will shift the traffic pattern on southbound I-295 between Howard Road and the Suitland Parkway this weekend to accommodate emergency bridge repairs.
The work zone, currently set up in the center lane, will shift to the right, and all southbound traffic will use the two left lanes during the next phase of work.
Crews will begin moving the barriers at 6 am on Saturday, November 19 and expect to complete the shift by 10:00 am. During the shift southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and motorists should expect delays.
The repair work will extend the life of the bridges on 295 and make the travel lanes safer for the traveling public.
