(Washington, DC) As part of the Columbus Plaza Rehabilitation Project, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of temporary closures in the service lanes located in front of Union Station, from January 17 through January 21, weather permitting. The closures will be required to allow crews to demolish and remove the concrete medians that separate the lanes in front of the station.

During the work, at least 1 lane will be kept open in each of the service lane areas for passenger vehicles, taxicabs, buses and shuttles. Motorists and travelers are advised there may be minimal impacts to the flow of traffic.

Barricades will be set-up around the work zone to conduct these construction activities in a safe manner and protect the traveling public. Designated sections of the barricaded area will be kept open to allow pedestrians to be able to cross through the service lanes.

DDOT encourages all travelers in the area to stay alert.
