(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the Howard Road, SE entrance ramp to northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) starting at 8 pm today through 5 am tomorrow morning.
Northbound 295 will also be reduced to a single lane between Howard Road, SE and 11th Street, SE starting at 8 pm today through 5 am tomorrow morning. The closures will allow DDOT to perform paving operations for a new ramp connection from northbound I-295 to 11th Street SE.
During the ramp closure, signed detours will be posted.
Detours:
Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour along Howard Road, SE to Anacostia Park Drive, SE then onto eastbound Suitland Parkway to access northbound I-295.
Variable message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid potential delays.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast/Southwest Freeway and I-295/DC 295.
