(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be implementing single lane closures on the northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295/DC295) between Howard Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, in southeast Washington, beginning at 8 pm on Friday, January 27 through 12 pm the following day. Motorists will also encounter 20-minute traffic stoppages along this stretch from 12 am to 5 am on Saturday, January 28. These lane closures and traffic stoppages will allow DDOT to conduct freeway paving activities associated with the 11th Street Bridge Project.
Variable message signs will be place to provide motorists with advance warning about the lane closures and traffic stoppages. Motorists are urged to choose alternate routes to avoid potential delays.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures for the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and the I-295/DC 295.
For more information about this work or the 11th Street Bridge Project, please contact DDOT Project Manager Ravindra Ganvir at (202) 359-6948 or visit www.ddot.dc.gov/11thStreetBridge.
