REVISED: Overnight Closures for New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue Rescheduled to Start Tonight at 10 pm 

Additional Overnight Closures Scheduled to Reoccur June 25 and 29; Detour Will Apply to Westbound New York Avenue Starting at Penn Street and to Eastbound New York Avenue Starting at Florida Avenue

Tonight New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue will be closed starting at 10 pm through 5 am tomorrow morning. This closure was previously scheduled to occur last night and is now rescheduled to take place tonight.

(Washington, DC) – Tonight New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue will be closed starting at 10 pm through 5 am tomorrow morning. This closure was previously scheduled to occur last night and is now rescheduled to take place tonight.

This closure will reoccur again starting at 10 pm on Monday, June 25 through 5 am the following day and at 10 pm on Friday, June 29 through 11 am the following day.

These activities will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project External Website.

Detours

Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue. Eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue to 6th Street and Penn Street and then back to New York Avenue.

Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
