(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising residents and travelers that it will move forward with the previously announced closure of Broad Branch Road, NW between Brandywine and Ridge Roads on Monday, December 19. The temporary closure will remain in place for an estimated 30-45 day period while crews repair the collapsed culvert over Soapstone Creek.

As part of the repair work, crews will remove the temporary one-lane bridge that was installed this past summer. After the repairs are completed Broad Branch Road will reopen to two-way traffic.

During the closure local traffic only will be permitted on Broad Branch Road, NW from Brandywine Street.

A detour directing traffic to Tilden Street, Connecticut Avenue and Brandywine Street will be posted while Broad Branch Road is closed.
Temporary signs will be in place to provide advanced notice of the scheduled detour.
