(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be closing the ramp to southbound I-295 from the outbound 11th Street Bridge starting at 10 pm on Monday, February 14 through 5 am the following morning to allow for overhead steel girder work to be conducted safely. The set-up activity for this closure will begin at 8 pm. The right two lanes of the outbound 11th Street bridge will also be closed.
During the closures, a signed detour will be posted for motorists wanting to access southbound Interstate 295.
Detour: To reach I-295, motorists will be directed to travel the Southeast-Southwest Freeway to Pennsylvania Avenue where they can access the highway.
Local traffic across the 11th Street Bridge to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will not be affected.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the closure and work will be rescheduled for the same overnight hours on Tuesday, February 15 or Wednesday, February 16.
These closures are in addition to previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, portions of the Southeast-Southwest Freeway, Interstate 295/DC 295 and local streets through Friday, March 22, 2011 for project construction.
