(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be temporarily closing the intersection of Good Hope Road, SE and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE and the inbound ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue overnight from 8 pm to 5 am January 3 through January 27. The closures will allow DDOT to complete signal installation work at the intersection.

During the lane and ramp closures, signed detours will be posted.

Detours

During the intersection closure at Good Hope Road, SE and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, motorists traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will be detoured onto W Street, SE, and then to 13th Street, SE to access Good Hope Road east of the intersection closure. Motorists traveling westbound on Good Hope Road, SE will be detoured via 14th Street, SE, to W Street, SE to access Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue south of the intersection closure.

During the closure of the inbound ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, motorists will be detoured to southbound I-295, then onto Howard Road, SE, to access Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Variable message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.

This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
