The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close 11th Street, SE from M Street, SE to O Street, SE and O Street, SE between 11th Street, SE and the newly constructed 11th Street Local Bridge, overnight May 29, May 30 and May 31 to demolish the old outbound 11th Street Bridge.
(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close 11th Street, SE from M Street, SE to O Street, SE and O Street, SE between 11th Street, SE and the newly constructed 11th Street Local Bridge, overnight May 29, May 30 and May 31 to demolish the old outbound 11th Street Bridge.
The road closures will start at 7 pm each night and continue through 5am the following morning. O Street, SE from the new 11th Street Local Bridge to 12th Street, SE will be reduced to one lane each night during these times. The road closures will allow DDOT to perform demolition activities on the old outbound 11th Street Bridge.
During the road closures, signed detours will be posted.
Detour
During the closure of 11th Street, SE, local traffic seeking access to Anacostia from M Street, SE and the Navy Yard Area will be detoured onto the new ramp at the intersection of M Street and 11th Street, SE, to southbound I-295, then to Howard Road, SE to access Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.
Signage will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
