(Washington, DC) Starting Monday, March 7 through Thursday, March 10, during overnight hours, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) plans to fully close or periodically stop traffic in one direction at time on Interstate 295/DC 295 (Anacostia Freeway) between Pennsylvania Avenue and the 11th Street Bridge to set new bridge girders over the highway.

This activity will occur overnight between 10 pm and 5 am the next morning, with a single lane closure beginning at 8 pm. Traffic stoppages may last up to 40 minutes at a time.

In the event either direction of the highway is closed, signed detours will be posted. To avoid delay during stoppages, motorists are urged to choose alternate routes.

For more information about this work or the 11th Street Bridge Project, please contact Public Information Manager Bryon Johnston at 202-484-2330, ext. 137 or visit ddot.dc.gov/11thStreetBridge.
