WASHINGTON, DC – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is planning to close O Street, SE between the 11th Street local bridge and 12th Street overnights next week in order to remove the old bridge girders over the roadway. The road closures will start at 7 pm each night on January 7-10 and January 13-15 and be in place until 5:30 am each following morning.

During the O Street closures, motorists should anticipate delays along 11th Street as traffic will be detoured around the work zone by flagging operation. The planned detours are as follows:

• Southbound 11th Street traffic seeking access to Water Street will be detoured to N Street, then onto 12th Street to reach Water Street.
• Northbound 11th Street traffic will be directed to N Street then back onto 12th Street.

Electronic message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detours.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
