DDOT has closed two lanes in the northbound 3rd Street tunnel due to electrical conduits that were hit by a moving vehicle and dislodged across the roadway.
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has closed two lanes in the northbound 3rd Street tunnel due to electrical conduits that were hit by a moving vehicle and dislodged across the roadway. To protect the public, these lanes will remain closed to allow DDOT to remove the wires from the roadway and properly secure them.
DDOT estimates this emergency work will not be completed prior to the end of today’s rush hour.
DDOT encourages all motorists to watch for the variable message boards that are in place to direct traffic over to the open lanes. Travelers should expect a 20-30 minute delay in their travel through this corridor.
