Lane Closures on Southbound Howard Road SE and Southbound Suitland Parkway
Lanes will close on southbound Howard Road SE and southbound Suitland Parkway between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm daily from Tuesday, August 7 through Thursday, August 9.

Lanes will close on southbound Howard Road SE and southbound Suitland Parkway between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm daily from Tuesday, August 7 through Thursday, August 9.

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close lanes on southbound Howard Road SE and southbound Suitland Parkway between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily from Tuesday, August 7 through Thursday, August 9 to allow soil testing for the preliminary design of the South Capitol Street Corridor Project.
More specifically, the lane closures will be as follows:
- the middle lane of southbound Howard Road SE approaching Firth Sterling Avenue, and
- the right lane of southbound Suitland Parkway at the exit ramp to northbound Interstate 295.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances on any of these days, the work and closures would be rescheduled for the same off-peak hours on Friday, August 10.
Throughout the work, advance signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorist to the closures.
To keep everyone safe, motorists should stay alert and obey the posted speed limits when traveling through this area.
